Zaharakos Columbus Reviews
Step back in time... Jan 24, 2010
This place was established in 1900 by three brothers from Greece.
We had heard about Zaharakos and decided to make the 45 minute drive to check it out.
Upon entering, it is like you have stepped back in time to an old soda fountain.
The food menu is simple and consists of a few salads, along with seven different sandwiches.
We had planned on only having dessert but the prices were not too bad so we ate lunch.
I had a ham sandwich and it was all right but the pretzel bread that it was on was excellent!
The highlight of Zaharkos is the ice cream parlor and soda fountain. It was very difficult to choose from all the flavors.
You can get most soda mixes, made the old fashioned way of mixing the syrups with the seltzer. One interesting flavor is cinnamon coke.
I had a vanilla ice cream soda that was perfect! I finished it in seconds.
I though the food was a great value but the desserts are a little pricey for what you get.
Well worth it though.
Zaharakos also serves light breakfast items.
There is a little museum on site that is free of charge.
