Visiting Zagreb in the summer can be more fun than written in some reviews. However, you have to know where to look for fun. There are some really good festivals (some are free!)and a few clubs that have some brilliant programmes even in August (when everything else seems shut) and you'll definitely meet real locals.
*Stroosmartre- is a free "street" festival that's on throughout the whole summer. Expect concerts, art exhibitions, free movies, wine tasting and more. *Zagreb Summer Evenings- A series of concerts will be held in the Upper Town, in the atrium of Klovicevi Dvori. Expect some good quality gypsy music, fado, flamenco, jazz...Tickets are 100KN (approx 15Euro) for most of the concerts. More info:www.kdz.hr/index.php?p=home *Summer in the Museum- A festival of urban theatre&music is held in the Museum of Arts and Crafts; tickets are 50KN and some of the shows are real "value for money".
