Fixed price Taxi Apr 26, 2008
ZÓNA Taxi is the cab company in Budapest with fixed prices. The price are devided in zones. 1-2 zones 3600 HUF, 3 zones 4000 HUF and 4 zones 4400 HUF.
(Most other cabs in Budapest will try to cheat and charge you way more then what it really costs. If you chose to use another cab company, make sure you agree on the prize BEFORE you even get in the car.)

We took the cab from the aiport to the appartment, which was in ZONE 2, so we paid 3600 HUF.
We also got their card with phonenr. and internet adress, so we could book cabs back to the aiport. Which we did. One cab for Gudny and Kristoffer on Wednesday and one for Patrick and me on Thursday. They came right on time both days.

This cab company is fast, affordable and reliable.

A fast ride to and from the airport. Apr 19, 2008
I was told about this company on the email from the people we were renting the apartment from so i checked it out on the internet. I had also been told about the dodgy cab drivers in Budapest so we also had a look at the Shuttle bus going into town just to compare prices. We realizes that splitting the cab bill would be a better option money vise.

The Zona taxi is divided up in to zones in the city depending on the distance making the price right for the different locations. Their prices for the different zones are : Zone 1 = 3300 HUF/15 Euro , Zone 2 = 4500 HUF/21 Euro, Zone 3 = 4700 HUF/22 Euro, Zone 4 = 5100 HUF/24 Euro.
For the return fare its a different price: Zone 1-2 = 3600 HUF/16 Euro, Zone 3 = 4000 HUF/18 Euro, Zone 4 =4400/20 Euro

The ride from the airport was interesting. Our driver drove like he was going down a slalom slope as well as driving in the middle of both lanes. Maybe he payed double road tax LOL Anyways, i guess it was about making most money in a day with that driving, but we all got our seat belts on:)

The return driving was not as bad and that driver seemed more careful, but a good cab service. I ordered a cab back for the both of us at a internet cafe but the responding time is up to 3-4 hours on mail so it might be an idea to order in good time unless you plan on calling them of course. I had the Hungarian Internet cafe man calling from my phone to make sure our order got through. That way i found out that the responding time is 3-4 hours on mail and that they also answer quite quickly on the phone. Highly recommended on using their services if you are more then one person.
