This park is huge Mar 09, 2011
There are so many people there on the weekends doing random things. The park is enormous, and is nearby Harajuku. It will probably take you at least an hour to walk around the entire park.

Tokyo's version of Central Park, an oasis of calmness May 20, 2007
Yoyogi Park is a wonderful place if you want to escape the busy life and the sometimes packed streets of Tokyo's concrete jungle.

I've only been there once, during my 3 visits to Tokyo (wishing I had been there more times), but that one time was very nice.

Even though it was relatively short, it was indeed an oasis of calmness. I saw families enjoying a picknick, or just enjoying the sun. Kids were playing soccer or other games and people were walking their dogs.

There were also a number of groups playing music, mainly just jamming on drums. One band had setup their instruments and were playing their own cd, which they sold as well.

On the edge of the park, at the Harajuku area, I also saw a group of local youth all dressed in lolita and gothic outfits.

I can highly recommend this park to everyone if you want to relax and unwind from your time exploring the streets of Tokyo!
