Hostel Los Amigos, Flores, Guatemala Oct 02, 2009
I have stayed here on 3 occasions. It is the the best of the cheap places to stay in Flores. At times there is free internet. The food is well above average for a hostel presentation and is vegetarian in orientation. There is a small library offering a limited book exchange. A bed in a dorm room is about $3.00 per night. There is a cheaper way to go, a hammock at about $2.00 per night. They offer box lunches, but at any price they are not worth the price. I bought a box lunch on my first visit and was disappointed when I pulled it out at Tikal. A soggy cheese sandwich on white bread and two pieces of old fruit. I have heard complaints about their box lunches during each of my stays. do not let the box lunch stories keep you from staying here, just don't buy a box lunch, plan ahead and acquire your picnic basket elsewhere. This is a very good and well managed hostel.

A great place! May 31, 2009
I stopped in Flores on my way to Belize and Mexico to visit this small, charming town at a beautiful lake and visit Tikal, an 1 hour drive from Flores.
It's one of the cheapest places in Flores with a bed in a dorm for 10 people being available for only $3.00 a night. A hammock outside is slightly cheaper, but I dont remember exactly how much it was. The hostel also has nice area just to hang out and therefore its so easy to meet other travelers. They have a small library with books and you can watch TV. For a hostel they offer pretty good food and it's not really expensive neither. They also have their own travel agency that offers flights and bus rides to all over Guatemala, Belize, Mexico and more.... I highly reccomend this place and I would stay there again one day when I hopefully visit Flores again. |

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Feb 23, 2008
Check out the website for a full list of services, but there really is no reason to even step outside, as this place has everything you need. It's an all around great place to eat, drink, socialize, relax, sleep, etc...

The main reason for coming to Flores is to see the ´New York´ of Mayan architecture which is Tikal. We had an easy transit over the border into Guatemala. We had had stories of it taking ages and costing whatever they fancied charging but it was a…… Tikal |

Ready for yet another experience. Now in Guatemala, or as the locals say "Guate", and we can instantly feel the difference compared to Belize. The atmosphere is a bit more aggressive and chaotic, but nothing we can't handle!! We managed …… Adventures in Guatemala - Flores, El Petén, Guatemala |
