Restaurants

Houston’s (Santa Monica, on Wilshire & 2nd St. / Century City Shopping Center). Lunch or dinner. Order spinach dip and cheese toast for appetizers and burgers and fries for main course. Salads are good. Never go for sushi.

The Cheesecake Factory (Marina Del Rey / Beverly Hills / The Grove Mall). Try popcorn shrimp, Mac n’ Cheese balls, roadside sliders (mini burgers), quesadilla , tex-mex egg rolls (has no eggs), Thai lettuce wraps (lighter selection). Order the Sante Fe salad (no black beans, no avocado, no tomato). Club sandwich is good. All main courses are decent. Order the Frozen Iced Mango for drinks. For dessert try the vanilla bean cheesecake or any other flavor, they’re all good.

The Griddle (West Hollywood, on Fairfax and Sunset). Breakfast or Brunch. Huge portions. Order the Oreo pancakes (you can order one or a stack of pancakes – I recommend one), and the French toast (the regular and the peanut butter).

Sushi Roku (Santa Monica on Ocean Ave & Santa Monica Blvd./ West Hollywood on 3rd st. next to the Beverly center). Lunch or dinner. Try the chicken salad, fillet mignon wrapped asparagus, the crispy chicken, popcorn shrimp (old and new style – new style comes with a cream sauce). Try the rock shrimp with jalapeño and the rock shrimp with asparagus rolls. The lobster with cream sauce roll is also good. Order the spicy mayo its great. Teriyaki sauce is also good for dipping. All other rolls are good. Dessert is amazing here; chocolate volcano is good; dessert menu keeps changing. Reservations Needed.

Katana (West Hollywood on Sunset). Dinner. Same owner and menu as sushi roku. More romantic, better location. Ask for outdoor patio seating. Reservations Needed.

Asia De Cuba (Mondrian Hotel, West Hollywood, Sunset Blvd) Lunch or dinner. For lunch try the sandwiches and salads. For dinner try salads and veal steak and coconut sticky rice (sharing portions). Ask for outdoor patio seating. Reservations Needed.

iL Tramezino (Canon Drive, Beverly Hills; Rodeo Drive area) Lunch or dinner (open late on weekends). Go for the chicken special sandwich on flat bread (comes with sun dried tomatoes and avocado) also order the honey Dijon chips. For dessert get the nutella croissant (comes with strawberries or bananas or neither).

Urth Café (Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills or Melrose Ave. Hollywood) Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Great food any time of the day. Light and organic food. Sandwiches and cakes are all good. nice selection of coffees and teas. Order first and then get a table.

Ilpastaio (Canon Drive, Beverly Hills; Rodeo Drive area) Lunch or dinner. Great Italian Pastas.

Ago (Melrose Ave, Hollywood) Dinner. One of the best Italian restaurants in Los Angeles. Reservations Needed.

Century City Shopping Mall Food Court (Century City Shopping Center) Lunch or dinner. The best food court you’ll ever be in. Casual and well designed. Good restaurants are “coral tree café” , “panda express” (try the orange chicken with chow mien), and Fudds (great burgers).
