Young Chow Restaurant Washington Reviews
Young Chow on Capitol Hill Jun 18, 2007
Young Chow is my favorite Chinese restaurant on Capitol Hill. You’ll find people from the Library of Congress’ Asian Division and Capitol Hill staffers having lunch here. The Young Chow waitstaff are fast, friendly, and attentive. They won’t let your water glass go empty! Young Chow features Hunan and Szechwan cuisine. The usual suspects are on the menu, but Young Chow also has a daily house special. My favorite is the Wonderful Flavored Chicken served on Mondays. This dish is sliced chicken served in a brown sauce with green pepper, carrots, and baby corn accompanied by steamed rice. The Hot and Sour Soup is recommended, too.
UPDATE 2012. Young Chow was redecorated and reopened under new management in fall 2011. The change also introduced a completely new menu to the restuarant and relauched it as pan-Asian cuisine. While many standbys like the Wonderful Falvored Chicken are gone, I must say the new menu is better than ever! The Hot and Sour Soup is so much better, thick and nicely flavored. Traditional Chinese dishes have been rethought. I like the Szechuan Chicken among them. Sushi has been introduced as a new menu offering and has been an immediate hit on Capitol Hill. The Lunch Combination offers a generous sampling of Sushi items.
