I would like to recommend this "double trips" while you are in a country or traveling around some countries in central europe which are only 30 minutes minimal to maximum of two hours to reach one another:

vienna, austria and bratislava, slovakia - these cities are only separated by the danube river (donau in german, dunaj in slovak) it takes about an hour to travel between these two cities. You start at wien südbahnhof (vienna south station) to bratislava central station the price is 14-16 euros roundtrip.

copenhagen, denmark and malmö, sweden - separated by the oresund straight in the baltic sea and connected by the oresund bridge which happens to be the longest bridge in europe, the trip takes about 35-40 mins. The ticket price is about 15-17 euros roundtrip.

aachen, germany and liège, belgium - aachen, known for its cathedral which was the crowning of charlemagne and kings of the holy roman empire and liège, once a a powerful industrial city in belgium. From aachen central station to liège guillemins takes 1 hour and about 12 euros one way.

düsseldorf and cologne in germany - the rival cities in the west of germany, two beautiful cities with clashing personalities. Takes 20 minutes by regional train from one another but an hour if you take the sbahn (stadt bahn) about 10 euros one way.

innsbruck, austria and munich, germany - both german speaking cities and countries but totally worlds apart - 2 1/2 hours from each other and costs 35 euros one way.
