Our last day in Yosemite. We started the day with an easy hike to Lower Yosemite Fall. The fall itself was breathtaking, but the trail was rather crowded, so we decide to move on quickly. We hopped on the shuttle bus and headed for Mirror Lake Trailhead. From the bus stop, a flat, one-mile-long paved trail leads to Mirror Lake. I heard that the lake had little water much of the year, but there was enough water for boys to jump in. I, too, rolled up my pants and stepped into t...

Since we had to head back home in the
afternoon, we only had a short time to explore the park today. Our first stop was
Bridalveil Falls. I wanted to see it because I
missed it last time, but alas, there wasn't much water, just a trickle coming
down. Definitely, it didn't look like a bridal veil... Oh well, now I know that
the late fall is not a season for viewing waterfalls in Yosemite.
:) It was still a nice little walk from the parking lot to the base of the
fall, and the boys were ...

Got up late this morning, due to a really spicy gumbo meal the night before. I should have known better, I'm Irish, potatoes are spicy to me, but it was so good, couldn't resist it.Made it to Yosemite National Park around noon and started to get acquainted with the park. So many places to shoot photos from in this park. I can see why it is one of the most popular park destinations. Crowds weren't too bad today, could always find a parking place at the vista viewpoints. I regret not doing more...

Without doubt, the single most amazing place I've ever been to. Scenery that literally leaves you breathless and stays with you forever. I advise EVERYONE to visit this place at least once in their lives.

Taking pictures of the sites in Yosemite is so easy. Point and click and you have a winner. Whether it’s a waterfall, meadow, stream, the trees, the mountains, or whatever else catches your eye. I hope you enjoy what we took. Now that we are retired and can mosey whenever we want to its nice to be able to take our time enjoying the beauty of Yosemite. Summer is busy in this National Park so the traffic flow is generally heavy. It’s a slow way to get home, but so worthwhile. With all...

On the way out of the park and back to LA, we stopped at the Mariposa Grove of giant redwoods. This is also something I've done countless times with my parents. It's a touristy area just outside the park where you can see...giant redwoods. They're impressive, they're imposing, and they're not that exciting to see more than once or twice in your life, unless you're really into trees. They are pretty, however, and it is rather crazy to think how large some of them are.&n...

Sunday- Packed up camp to head for Yosemite! Tyler was freaked out by several large spiders in the men's room, one was right in the shower with him. I can't remember the name of the state park we stayed at, but it didn't take long to get to Yosemite from there.
The first thing we saw within the park was El Capitan and Half Dome, from a distance at an overlook. We walked down some trails off the overlook, then drove down into Yosemite Valley. We then walked ...

Luckily, on our second day in the park, the weather was a lot better so we could go ahead with our plans to do a couple of hikes around the Valley. We chose the not-too strenous hike to the top of Vernal Falls via the Mist Trail and then continuing on to the top of Nevada Falls and for our second hike, we chose the easy path to Mirror Lake to take a couple of pictures.

We started in Ohio and went to the Northwestern states. We camped most of the way in National Parks. Drove down the Pacific coast and headed inland around L.A. California. Then we zig-zagged through AZ and up to CO. From there we headed Northeast toward home. We were on the road for about 3.5 weeks. It was a great trip!

My longest travel experience yet has been to southern California for university. After 3 years of graduate school I'm finally done and I'm on a miniature victory tour of California with my parents.

300miles to Yosemite. Setup tents and then walked down to the river, Lizzie and Mel and braved the cold water again ! Started to rain a bit so went back to camp. Had a bbq for tea. Sat round the campfire and played a few campfire games. Then the campsite owner came over and told us fires were banned !
Packed things away as the bears come after the food !
Ricky had lost his passport so stayed behind to search for it. Everyone else set off for Curry Village where ...
