Located in base of Shiga-kogen plateau, where Nagano winter Olympic Games was held in 1998. 7 min. walk from Yudanaka Station, which is a gate to Shiga-kogen.
Famous for Jigokudani-yaen-koen where Japanese Macaque "snow monkey" baths in hot springs, a temple where the well-known haiku poet Kobayashi Issa stayed, as well as statue of Peace Goddess Kannon is nearby.
