Cheap and tasty...definitely not healthy Sep 05, 2009
Yats is very well known in Indianapolis. They have at least 3 locations in the area. Anyone who is staying downtown could walk a bit and reach the location on Mass Ave. The menu is small and is written out on a chalkboard daily. Some dishes are always available, such as the chili cheese etouffe (with crawfish) and the gumbo. Others are offered once or twice a week, such as jerk chicken etouffe and mache choux. Whatever you order, it will be in a gravy form and served on top of white rice. It will also come with some crusty bread with a seasoned butter sauce. The entrees cost around $6, and the portions are large. It is a great place to grab a cheap but delicious lunch or dinner.

Cajun food.....mmmmmmm Aug 16, 2009
Yats is an exceptional place if your craving some good ol' cajun food! Specializing in Jambalayas and Etouffees, Yats always has something cooking. I have been to Yats MANY times, but found my love on the first visit. I highly recommend the Chili Cheese Etouffee with crawfish and extra bread. They seem to have quite a following with the Peanut Butter Pie, but I have never gotten that far!

Downsides to this location are lack of parking and they no longer take credit cards. You'll be grabbing your own utensils and drink, but staff will deliver the food. The to go option is my favorite so I can pig out and be messy in private. Expect to pay only $4.50-$6.50 per dish.
