Worth visiting for the attractions, and okay to watch game! Jul 06, 2013
The name of this stadium is often the first thing that comes to mind, when it comes to the borough of the Bronx. This Yankee Stadium is a good place to watch a ballgame, and has some interesting attractions.

Sometimes nicknamed “Yankee Stadium III” or “the new Yankee Stadium”. Yankee Stadium I was the one built in 1923. After it went through major renovations for the 1974 and 1975 seasons, it looked completely different, thus called Yankee Stadium II. During those 2 seasons of renovations, the Yankees had to play their home games at Shea Stadium, which I’m sure, did not sit well with either NY team.

As this team has so much history, there are the New York Yankees Museum and Monument Park. There is a separate review for the museum, and I will talk more extensively about visiting Monument Park in the blog. But it will be a challenge to see both of them before game time, as the lines for each, can be long before game time. So if you really want to see all 9 innings of a game and see both of these attractions, you can do one of 3 things…

1. Get there right when the gates open (2 hours before game time), and try your luck. Head to Monument Park first!

2. Take a stadium tour, which visits both of the attractions.

3. Attend a second game, and just focus on the attractions themselves. The museum is less crowded during game time. You can score a cheap ticket on StubHub, which can be cheaper than a stadium tour, depending on the visiting team.

As for the stadium itself, it is more of a replica of the previous one, as it looked in 1923. It is an okay place to watch baseball, but it is so freaking expensive. Cheapest option is the upper deck, but you can’t see the action too well. And the views of the city, from the stadium, are nothing special.

You can also see the Bronx and barely see Manhattan from the Malibu Rooftop Deck, which is an okay place to hang out before the game. It is a picnic area type of place.

Worth checking out for the museum and Monument Park, but definitely not one of the best stadiums.
