Yankee Pedlar Inn Torrington - Reviews - Torrington

Torrington, CT is a sleepy little town in Northwest Connecticut. I believe Mike Tyson-ne-50 Cent's mansion is nearby. During my trip to Connecticut the Pedlar Inn was all I saw. Everything in it is old, in a nice way. It's much more Grandma's House than Hotel. The rooms smelled like Grandma's house as a matter of fact. I'm surprised each room didn't come with a finicky cat. They still use actual metal keys which didn't make me feel that safe, and our room had one full size bed and one twin with ratty turn of the century comforters.

Whilst boasting Central Air, there was no thermostat, only a dial that you could turn from OFF to High, Medium or Low. Medium and Low produced nothing, while High set off a dull thud and a trickle of lukewarm air into the room. From our window we could see fifty or so other rooms with window units in them, we however, were stuck with open windows, 90 degree heat, and the sheets stuck to our backs.

They did provide a very small screen desktop computer hooked to the internet in the lobby, but aside from that, everything in the hotel seems to predate the first world war.

Living quarters accomodations aside, the bar/restaurant Bogey's was fantastic. I highly recommend their cheeseburger. Long story short, it's a nice place to eat dinner, but unless you're ghost hunting or nostalgic for your sleepovers with Nana, you should just stay at the nearby Super 8, they have a pool and air conditioning that works.
