Learning About Natives of WA Sep 19, 2015
Since I'm a "senior," my fee to get in was only $4. Adults cost $6.

The Yakama Nation Museum opened in 1980 and is one of the oldest Native American Museums in the United States. The 12,0000 square foot exhibition hall is the result of years of hope, thought, and effort on the part of the Yakama people.

It was interesting that the women were trading for glass beads used to decorate clothing since the early 1800s. Sadly, a lot of the children were forced into Christian schools and were made to forget about their culture and language. One elder recalled his time attending private schools. Every time he moved to a different school, he was told he had to be re-baptized and was given a different name.
