Very good hostel in an amazing setting by a very colourful harbour May 28, 2011
I've been staying in YHAs now for over 6 years, so I've come to expect a very high standard from all of them, and am generally disappointed when one of them is bad.

So I was thrilled to find out that there was YHA in this place, much less in such a prime location. The website itself identifies them by which colour building they in are in the obscenely colourful harbour. But the overall setup is even better - they boast of the best and most organised kitchen I've seen of all YHAs. The food shelves (where guests store their food) are labelled by rooms (so each room gets some space), they have different coloured cutting boards depending on the food, 4 types of bins (recycle) and clean utensils and cutlery. The reception is very friendly yet professional - handled by a Polish lady and a German bloke. There's a hi speed internet computer right at the entrance. There's a very comfy lounge. You can buy b'fast, ice cream, tea and coffee at the reception if you please.

The rooms are typical - nothing special.

If anything, the only annoying thing in this hostel was that the mens' bathroom was on the ground floor whilst the rooms were on the 1st, so getting up and down for a shower was a bit annoying. Especially early mornings when it was cold!

But overall I had another solid experience and would recommend this hostel to anyone who wishes to stay - including families with kids.
