YHA The Glebe Sydney Reviews
YHA Glebe Point Dec 31, 2010
Glebe Point YHA
262-264 Glebe Point Road
I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. It is over-priced, living off the YHA name (or at least it was for the time of year I stayed there), and is outright dull. Stay next door in the far livelier Glebe Village Hostel, if you do choose to stay in the Glebe at all, which, once again, I wouldn’t recommend.
As for this place, well there’s no breakfast or hot drinks, but the kitchen is clean and sizeable. The hang out areas are large as well, and the four bed dorms are quiet and comfortable. The bathrooms are plentiful and always clean as well, and with all in this in mind, it is the probable reason for the huge amount of OAP’s found inside! Its attempts to be cool and trendy are good, but it is sadly let down on two accounts: first and foremost is the location; secondly is the policy on strictly no cartons of wine on site. Given that goone is the traveller’s tipple of choice, this is never going to attract anything more than a mature crowd desperately seeking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD; it’s not necessarily a bad thing, but are the reasons behind the clientele this place attracts.
If you are very young and just want some time partying, stay in Kings Cross; if you are mid-twenties upwards, stay at Manly; if you are over 60 stay in the Glebe. That’s a pretty fair evaluation I think.
