Xlendi Bay Gozo Reviews
Great Place to watch the world go by Jun 03, 2010
Xlendi Bay is one of my favourite areas of Gozo mainly due to the fact that it was also one of my nan's favourite places.
Situated 3km from the capital Victoria on the southwest coast this beautiful bay area has a small beach and the clear blue green waters are an ideal place for a spot of swimming. The caves and rugged reefs provide ideal conditions for snorkelling and scuba diving.
The bay area is situated between two rather steep cliffs on either side. When looking out towards the water from the shore line the cliffs on the right hand side are accessible by numerous steps and here you will find a small cave said to be the retreat for local nuns who could bathe in privacy. In 1868 a small church was built and was dedicated to Our Lady of Mt Carmel. The views are amazing too.
Aligning the waterfront are a number of restaurants where the majority of them sell the fresh fish that has been caught that morning.
A wonderful place to relax, especially during the early evening when the majority of tourists have left for the day leaving the locals to enjoy the peace and tranquility of such a beautiful area.
Part of the list Places not to be missed - Malta
