 Relaxing Stroll "On and along" the perimeter of the ancient City Wall Dec 28, 2008
As most people might be aware, Xi'an is one of the 4 ancient cities in China. So what comes to mind, is the ancient city wall. It may not be comparable to the majestic Great Wall of China, but it's a city wall with its own beauty.
What is special is that Xi'an city is small enough that you can conquer the ancient wall by walking the whole perimeter and yes, the entire city view presented right in front of you. You definitely won't find that in Beijing. The government has also made efforts in conservation - green parks are married side-by-side with the city wall. Don't miss taking a time off your hectic travel schedule to stroll, over ever ride on the city wall. It's a good spot to catch sunset & sunrise too. South Gate seems to be the most prominent gates. And my last note, do not underestimate this city wall stroll. It took me ~ 1.5hr to walk from East Gate to South Gate, including those shot breaks & my idllyic stroll of course.
