An Eco-Park that's a winner Feb 01, 2011
There is so much to do at XCaret, that you likely won't see everything in a single day. If you do try to rush through and see it all, you will likely end up not really enjoying it. Our time at XCaret was limited (about 4-5 hours as part of a tour), so we were only about to see in the range of 40-60% of the park.

The things we did see: A lot of the animal/zoo exhibits--the monkeys, the jaguars, birds and flamingos. We also saw the coral reef aquarium and shark tank (but there was only one shark there), as well as the sea turtles and the alligators. And the manatees. We also went and saw some dolphins, but we didn't do the dolphin encounter. We also went past the Mayan ruins, which are part of the XCaret archeological site (from which the theme park takes its name). Unlike other Mayan ruins I have been to, you can actually climb on these. We did those things while most of the people in our group swam through the underground river.

We spent a lot of time the lagoon swimming area, and got there early enough in the morning that when we arrived, there were only a couple other people there and there was no problem getting an intertube. It quickly did get quite a bit busier there as the morning wore on, though. While it's slow, the lagoon is very serene and very peaceful, and it feels like you're 1000 miles from civilization.

We also walked through the underground caverns that had been formed (and then excavated more fully) by an underground river and then became a sink hole. You can easily tell where the ground level had been before the sink hole collapsed. We also quickly walked through the butterfly pavillion which has a waterfall and is very scenic, and you could probably spend quite a bit of time in here.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any performances at XCaret because most of them are in the evening. It's definitely a stop I would recommend if in the Playa del Carmen area.

Beautiful Ecological Theme Park In The Jungle Nov 01, 2011
This is one of my favorite places to go while in Cancun. This place is awesome! Everything from the underground river to the dolphin encounter down to the great food and culture makes this place a must see.

Plenty of flora and fauna await you as well as a tropical paradise surrounded by animals of every type not to mention the wonderful shows put on throughout the day detailing various cultures throughout Latin America.

Excellent location Nov 28, 2010
I thought it was once more only an amusement park but definitively I do recommend visiting as an excellent location to have fun with the family. All is perfectly organized and timed with outstanding views of what Mexico trully it is.

X Caret truely is another world, a dream.

You can really get back to natures finest creations here at Xcaret with so much to do you are spoilt for choice one day here just wasn't enough time to see and do everything... If you have only got 1 day here then I would suggest getting a map and plan your day out.

Here are just some of the many, many things that xcaret offers.

an underground river for snorkeling, a lovely beach looking out to the caribean sea, natural ponds, coral reef aquarium, an amazing sea turtle area the turtles came over to the side to, tapir house, mayan bee house, butterfy pavillion which is like a little maze it was great, deer refuge, regional wildlife enclosure,scenic tower - fab, mushroom farm, paradise river for a little boat ride, manatee lagoon, an awesome bat cave and a tropical jungle trail .... I could go on and on and on about The greatness of this place but you really do have to see this spectacular eco - park for yourself.

If you stay for the evening they also have various different shows each night which generally go in to the history of mexico very insightful!

drinks and food was a little pricey but thats too be expected from a tourist attraction.

There is swim with the dolphins here also but we prefered to go in a freshwater pool so decided on the interactive aquarium cancun for that.

numerous places too eat but the best ones were la laguna and la cocina.

The beach views are stunning

I would return to Xcaret in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it to everyone.

One of the best tourist attractions Ive ever been to :)

On the bus to Xcaret, we were offered by the tour guide all sorts of goodies you can buy in the park such as biodegradable sunscreen, soda, underwater camera etc...for a cheaper price. I think the price is kind of resonable if you came unprepared. As far as the sunscreen, they will tell you all over the internet and even with the tour guide that they will take your sunscreen away from you if it is not label biodegradble. We brought our own biodegradable sunscreen, however, we were also never checked. We were also offered on the bus to upgrade our package to the plus package bascially from $70-$100. The $100 package includes 1 buffet meal, snorkel, fins, locker, mask and 2 soda. I honestly don't think the savings was anything to rave about. By 5pm, we had to get dinner which is another $30 for a buffet. I would have to say this place is pretty Xspensive.

Here is a list of pros and cons.

* Snorkelling into an underground tunnel cave.

* Mayan outdoor show

* Beautiful setting

* Expensive

* Not many fish in the water

* Good night show gone boring

The New Xcaret ¡¡

I love everything about this magical Mexican playground, a world renowned cultural, ecological and archaeological park south of Cancun, which tantalizes the senses off all ages and tastes......Xcaret is better than before ¡¡¡¡¡

Two free archeaological tours now serve as time tunnels into Mexico´s past. Stimulated senses accompany the imagination to envision the Mayans as they once lived, as knowledgegeable guides explain the ancient structures left behind. An afternoon tour meanders through original sascab caves to an authentic Mayan village, where dancers, priests and warriors add a pulse and breath to what must have been.

Five free interactive ecological tours provide memorable experiences with Mexicos wildlife, coral reef is fed by a new scuba excursion fives minutes away from the park.

Tlachco ( "big one" in Maya) es the new 6,000 capacity auditorium wich hosts one of the mos amazing cultural events in Mexico, it follows chronology from the ancient Mayan culture to today with around 300 performers, pok-ta-pok and the fireball game, elegant costuming and professional choreographed performers is really a must see show.

The jungle tour concludes with a raft trip down the new rio de paraiso showing an opening view of the rivers, the cementary is an intriguing curiosity.

watching the turtles feeding is mesmerizing.

Xcaret is a place thath focus on giving historical and cultural occuracy and the preservation of mothers nature gifts.

ENJOY ¡¡¡¡¡¡

it's like paradise in the middle of the jungle Jun 14, 2000
i love this place. even though it is in essence a theme park it is absolutely beautiful. you can do in the morning and stay all day. it is about a 2 hour drive from Cancun but well worth it. i was able to snorkel through underground rivers here and ride horses on the beach. in addition there is a lot of history and culture to take in here. every visit to the Yucatan i come back here. it never gets old.
