A part of our bus tour took us to the lovely town of WYALUSING which is a borough in Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
Before 1750 the settlement was known as Gahontoto and was home to the Tehotachsee Tribe of native Americans. The small tribe was completerly wiped out by the Cayuga Tribe, who in 1792 rebuilt the town.
In the nineteenth century the town prospered as it became a shipping area for logs on the Susquehanna River.
In 1820 the Welles Mill along Wyalusing Creek, was constructed, making Wyalusing a prime area for people to farm and raise crops.
Many of the buildings constructed in the late 19th century are still standing on Main Street, including the Wyalusing Hotel where our group had a delicious meal prepared for us.
Scenic U.S. Route 6 passes through the center of Wyalusing.
The Grovedale Winery, which we had a tour and tasting is located near Wyalusing.

The BRADFORD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY offers tours led by museum staff or volunteers who share facts and information about the Historic Jail and the Museum exhibits.
Our tour group had the opportunity to tourthe Museum and Research Library, located in the former County Jail.
Exhibits are arranged throughout two floors of the building in what were once jail cells. Each cell depicts an era of county history. Exhibits include war - agriculture - manufacturing - Education -Textiles - Coal Mining and lumbering. There are easy-to-read panels with each exhibit to explain what is included. Other Exhibits also feature Civil War, Native Americans (Large collection of arrowheads found in the region). a century old Log Cabin and ba Jail Dungeon cell ( in which Hansi did some time as an inmate - hehe!). Specs O Keefe of the 1950 Brinks Robbery was incarcerated here. Much of the Jail portion remains today as it was when constructed in 1872
A research Library is located on the second floor.
Our group was also treated to a hot lunch including tossed salad, Roasted Potatoes, Lasagna ,chicken, assorted muffins for dessert and lemonade and Iced Tea.
