An ideal hotel for a day or two wedding anniversary getaway... Dec 21, 2013
Situated in the middle of Sequoia National Park is Wuksachi Lodge; surrounded by giant sequoia forest and the magnificent Sierra Mountains. It is the only hotel in the park.

Lodge is open year-round. If you are staying during the winter season, try to arrive at the hotel while it is still bright. Roadways are extremely dark, and you do not want to miss your turn to the hotel on a snowy night like what happened to us.

There are two buildings in the property. The check-in counter is at the main lodge building. Cottages and guest rooms are about 100-200 yards from the main lodge building. After we checked-in, the receptionist gave us instructions on how to reach the cottage from the reception hall.

Our room was furnished with a television set, mini-refrigerator, and coffee maker. Hair dryer, toiletries and towels are neatly positioned in the bathroom. Central heat worked fine.

Our room was clean and warm. When I woke up the next morning, I saw icicles outside hanging by the window; a pretty cool sight.

There is a full-service restaurant in the main lodge building. Dinner cost is quite pricey. Advance reservation is a must. Call (559) 565-4070 extension "0" for dining reservation. Breakfast is not inclusive in the hotel accommodation, but the price range is just average. Breakfast items are the usual -- scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, breads, pancakes, fresh fruits, juice, milk and coffee. I enjoyed those massive picture windows in the dining area while we had breakfast, and the huge crackling fireplace during dinner time.

There is a souvenir shop in the main building, just next to the reception desk.

The antique fireplace in the main building lobby gives a homey-ambiance.

For overnight stay or two, I would say this hotel is ideal, but not for longer stay. I would rather find a hotel outside of the national park.

Please check their website for current rates. ~

Awesome Views of the forest May 13, 2008
This is a great place to stay because it's in the middle of both entrances.

The only restaurant in there is very pretty and has great views of the forest (sit by the window!), but is kinda over priced for dinner. They have a breakfast buffet, which tastes great but limited to typical breakfast stuff. They have a store downstairs that sells toiletries and all sorts, but try not to forget anything because its more expensive there.

The rooms are not connected to the lobby and you have to drive there! I packed very light so I didn't have a problem, but I would imagine it to be very hard for people carrying their stuff and walking from the parking lot up to the rooms. The rooms are nice, nothing spectacular, but is almost luxurious for a national park hotel. They do have tv's though.

Overall it's a nice place to stay, and I would stay there again if I went there again. (but i might bring my own food for dinner and pig out at breakfast!)
