World War II Memorial - Visalia Reviews
Mar 18, 2007
Recently completed and commissioned on Veterans Day, November 11, 2006, on the southern edge of our city is a memorial mural to the people who served our country in World War II.
The mural, entitled "The Greatest Generation" depicts more than thirty snapshots of the war efforts from the different presidents, planes, ships, and people who contributed to the war effort. The mural wall, front fountain area and landscaping, along with lighting and flag poles and land were donated by the people of Visalia and the surrounding area to the Visalia Veterans Day Committee to make the memorial possible. Chairman Dan Kelly informed me that the artist, Glen Hill, did the entire 19 foot by 72 foot mural and it is the largest memorial mural on the west coast. |
