Neat cafe/restaurant on Main St. in Santa Monica that has an attached bar. My friends and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. The prices looked a bit steep, but the quality of the food was good and they gave very large portions. The pasta and pizza dishes seemed like the most food for your buck, and didn't sacrifice quality. There is seating both inside and outside in a fenced-in terrace area with heat lamps. We sat outside, but it was a bit too cold even with the heat lamps. In most cases outdoor seating should be fine though, as the nights in LA are rarely that cold. After dinner we went to go check out the bar and ended up staying the night there. The beers and drinks are reasonably priced, and there is a really cool room with couches and seats next to the bar where people go to chill out. Just don't grab the corner seats right next to the bar unless you want to get your conversation interupted every 35 seconds by the cocktail waitresses passing by, as this is the main traffic corridor between the bar and the lounge room.I just looked at the website and it seems pretty tacky, but the actual restaurant/bar are cool. Don't let poor Flash design and music fool you.

World Cafe is an expensive, hip bar and restaurant located on Main Street in Santa Monica.

My favorite thing about World Cafe is the lounge and the wide selection of alcohol.

The lounge is set up to be extremely comfortable, and has a variety of seating options ranging from little stools to big lounge type chairs.

World cafe is best enjoyed by groups of 3-5 people.. in my opinion its not a place where you want to go with just one buddy, nor is it especially well set up for large crowds.

There is also an outdoors area, which has heatlamps and is usually quite comfortable.

The one drawback about World Cafe are the prices, which seem to have increased since the last time I was there. Drinks are $5-9 and dinner prices can hit $20-30 per person easily.
