Woodstock is the seat of McHenry County in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
You may recognize the public town square of Woodstock, because it was the location for the majority of the exterior shots from the film "Groundhog Day" starring Bill Murray and directed by Harold Ramis. Stop by on Groundhog Day and a real groundhog "Woodstock Willie" will perform pretty much the same function that "Punxsutawney Phil" does in the film.

At my sister's place in Woodstock, we celebrated my Mom's 70th Birthday! :D
After, we had a bonfire & did my sister's annual Christmas Tree burning. It's never on a set date, I believe this year was the earliest, and one year it was as late as Thanksgiving.
The only person unable to show up (who is descended from my parents) was my niece Jackie - due to finals ... jeez, college kids these days, they can't prioritize!

I had a dinner & bonfire at my sister's just under two weeks before I left. Most of my family and a couple friends were there.
