Woodlands Homestead, Gardens and Function Centre Gordonton Reviews
A chapter of history Jan 22, 2009
WOODLANDS – Welcome to a dreamy and idyllic little place where fairies and elves could live! Who knows, you might spot one.
Woodlands are grounds with a historic estate, a neat garden and a little café near Gordonton (19 km from Hamilton).
If you are looking for a relaxing place outside the city Woodlands might be yours. If you are interested in large trees (some of them belong to New Zealand’s oldest trees), colourful flowers and history you’ll enjoy a visit even more. I absolutely appreciated our trip because it turned in an experience for all senses! The brightly coloured and sweet smelling flowers, the duck and cicada noises and a good cup of coffee or hot chocolate at the café were the small pieces of the whole puzzle called ‘Our relaxing morning’.
I also liked the ancient details like an old water pump or a sundial, which you are able to discover.
If you are planning to go on a jungle trip you should come to Woodlands first because it might be a good exercise. If you got lost and you needed to ask the fairies for help in the green world of Woodlands you shouldn’t go to the Amazons or the African rain forests – just come around and check out you jungle suitability ;-)!
Another possibility would be a visit of Woodlands Homestead, which gives you the chance of travelling back in history.
You see it doesn’t matter if you are the Indiana Jones type or the interested historian Woodlands is worth a stopover for many of us!
