Wong Kai London Reviews
Cheap and rarely cheerful Jul 26, 2011
Wong Kai is a bit of a tradition. Very fast service, very Chinese, very few smiles, Wong Kai put the risk in brisk; put the end in friendly.
Super cheap, but if you don't like it, don't worry there must be at least another 30 Chinese restaurants within a 1/4 mile, and as Chinese tourism grows, it's easier to get more authentic Chinese food.
Try Wong Kai. Won Ton soup that seems to come in a washing up bowl not a soup bowl it's so huge. Singapore rice noodles - apparently the Chinese see Wonkies (local nickname) as a noodle shop.
Free tea. When it's empty, leave the lid open and they refill. Don't like it? No problem, you still have change out of £10 a head each. I've been eating ther for 30 years. Left for ten but came back when they turned my new favourite into a Chinese buffet (boo!) and it's pretty well how I left it.
If you need a fork, you need to ask. If you want a romantic interlude, Wong Place.
