Wonderland Park Amarillo Reviews
Wonderland Park Jun 13, 2004
Wonderland Park is a small amusement park located on northern end of Amarillo. According to Wonderland’s website, 200,000 people each year visit Wonderland, making it the 3rd largest amusement park in Texas. It opened in 1951 as Kiddie Land, with three rides and has grown from there.
Currently they have three roller coaster, with the most famous being the Texas Tornado, a 25 year old, double loop steel roller coaster that has fans from around the world. Complimenting that are several water rides, kiddie rides, and several old favorites, like the Ferris Wheel, Tilt-a-Whirl, and the Scrambler.
Rounding out the experience is a Sky Ride (tram), a train ride, arcade, and unusually, a miniature golf course.
As far as hard core amusement parks go, Wonderland is pretty tame. But there are more than enough thrills to keep the teens and Type As happy, in addition to rides and attractions for the rest of the crowd. When my wife, teenage daughter, and I went we had a great time. The admission price is reasonable at $16 per person, but that does not include entry to the top rides, like the Texas Tornado or for golf. They do offer a Spectator pass, if you just want to watch the rest of your group be spun, looped, or tossed into nausea.
