The Most Snow in Colorado! Mar 26, 2010
This mountain is friendly for all levels of skiing and snowboarding. Prices are average to low based on what I've seen at other mountains. They have 1,600 playable acres and boast a reputation for having the most snow in Colorado. Their longest run is a dotted blue (easy intermediate) called Navajo Trail and is 2 miles long. I've enjoyed 2 days on the mountain so far and hope to have more to get to the more difficult terrain that they have to offer. They have a healthy level of black runs and a good bit of space that requires trekking to. On good powder days I hear Wolf Creek is the best around. They have a modest lodge to rest and eat. It gets crowded inside and it's hot upstairs, then again...a lot will welcome the warmth while taking a break from the snow outside. Their quiche is the best I've ever had and the rate at which they sell it definitely confirms my opinion! Yesterday Jason and I got the last 2 pieces. Even this late in the season they have a base over 100" and have gotten 9" of new snow in the last 24 hours. The steeps are decent, the moguls abundant on some runs, and stunning views all around. Definitely a locals spot, don't bring any hoity toities here that will want to overrun the place with resort style accommodations and trendy restaurants. This is a diamond in the rough and let it stay that way. DO bring your friends or family for a relaxed or challenging experience on a mountain with a lot to offer, enjoy yourself, and please recycle!
