Wolcott Vacation Guide

Founded in 1796, Wolcott is a town in central Connecticut that neighbors Waterbury, Cheshire, Southington, and Bristol. It is part of New Haven County and has a population of about 16,000.

The most notable figure in Wolcott's history is Amos Bronson Alcott. He was a famous educator, poet, philosopher, and father of Louisa May Alcott, author of "Little Women". Wolcott's most prominent historical site is the Old Stone School. Founded in 1821, it was used until 1930 and is still maintained today. Wolcott has a small historic district around the center of town. The area has homes from the late part of the 18th century and early 19th century. One was rumored to be part of the underground railroad.

Wolcott is also known for its annual country fair, which takes place every August, Illusions, a country line dancing bar and the Rockstar, a strip club that has guest porn stars come in the bring in the crowds.
