Yummy Ice Cream! Aug 02, 2014
This little ice cream place is filled with character, both inside and out. Ruby red slippers sit on the counter, and witches' hats and cauldrons pop up in the decor. Photos of pleased customers cover one wall while the day's flavors are listed on a board on the other wall.
Since the ice cream comes from a creamery at Penn State (quite a distance), the flavors change regularly. The lady working allowed us to taste before making our decision. Kate normally would choose Death by Chocolate but my question "What is White Lightning?" prompted us to try it. We both liked the mix of dark chocolate and mint so into sugar cones went our scoops. Since we said we would be eating outside in the warmer weather, the lady also gave us a set of bowls and cups, no charge.
The ice cream is very good and comes in a large serving (so while the price is a little on the higher end of average, the size makes up for the extra dollar). They do go down to a munchkin size for smaller appetites. They also serve shakes and make ice cream cakes. In the winter soup is an option.
There really wasn't seating inside but there were a few covered tables outside which I preferred over the air conditioning anyway. Music played from a rock near the creamery's door to add even more atmosphere.
