Cubs/Brewers Game
posted by:
Jul 29, 2008
One of the cool things I get to do for my job is occasionally travel to places for alumni events.  Well in July I was lucky enough to go to Milwaukee, WI to see the Cubs/Brewers game.  This was really exciting for many reasons.  One, because I get to travel to a different city to put on an event - meet new people, see new locations and get to drive a little bit away from Chicago- Two, I get to see the Cubs play (Which the Cubs I am a HUGE fan of so this is way exciting), Three ...

Does it always snow in Wisconsin?
posted by:
Jan 18, 2008 - Feb 04, 2008
So the sunday before was the big Green Bay game (well, the next to the last big Green Bay game).  I remember walking through the grocery store and saw a beautiful photo on the front of Sports Illustrated.  It was of Brett Favre with a football tightly in his hand and huge snow flakes falling infront of him.  It made me wonder... does it always snow in Wisconsin?  Because as I drive it wasn't snowing, per say.  But it was whisping around the road like white tumble weed...

My little Chico
posted by:
Jul 08, 2008
I am so sad.  My poor little Chico died this morning.  Chico is/was a green cheeked conure and he's been with us for 15 years.  He was about 6 months old when we got him.  Originally he was my mom's bird, but I always played with him more and took care of him, so he was closer to me.  So close that he would recognize my voice and call out to me if he heard me nearby.  He spent many years at college with me, keeping me from being too lonely.   Only recen...

Heading out light
posted by:
Jun 06, 2008
Just 3 hours until I have to be at the airport for my trip to San Francisco and this year I am planning on going light. One suitcase filled with my necessities and a backpack filled with some things to keep me busy during my 4+ hour direct flight. The "light" part is me without my laptop. Yes, my friends... I am traveling this year to my business/pleasure weekend in California without my best friend by my side. Why? Because my husband says I need a weekend of relaxation. How can I relax witho...

My favorite place in Milwaukee is Riverside Park. Even though it's not exactly my neighborhood park, I probably spend more time there than other other area in the city. Kids will love the Habitat Playground, especially the huge spiderweb specifically the 15 acre wooded area south

Roadtrip nr. 6
posted by:
Jun 22, 2008 - Jul 19, 2008

Traveling West
posted by:

It was cool and foggy when we got up, with a light mist rising from the pond.  There was algae and pond scum in the cold water, so I thought the "No Swimming" sign was unnecessary! The campground was nice, but desolate. There were trailers there, but they seemed to be empty.  We were the only souls around.  I found some abandoned firewood at a campsite nearby, and packed it into the truck. (most camp store charge $5 a bundle, so we scrounge when we can!)  We bought mi...
