Winter Market at Munich airport Reviews
A fun winter market Dec 18, 2012
I arrived at Munich airport early, which turned out to be great. Outside, between terminal 1 and 2, under a roof, was what I thought was a Christmas market. The sign said " Winter Market"! From what they offered, it was more of a witntery thing than a typical Christmas market. They did sell Christmas ornaments, glühwein and sausages, but also woolen hats, socks etc. Practical things one need in the cold winter months.
Compared to the Christmas market in the city, where most of the stands look the same, in the airport they were different and more charming. In the middle of the Winter market there was an ice rink. If you have the time, you can rent skates and have some fun. Next to the ice rink, also covered with ice, was something, which looked like curling. Two teams threw, or shoved a wooden piece, just like in curling. It was fun to watch them!
In the past few days I have eaten way too much at the various Christmas market, so why not round it off with a crepe. A charming little place offered 27 different sweet and 27 different savory crepes. I ended up with the same I always get, the Grand Marnier.
This is a great little market. It´s worth coming to the airport a bit early, or if you are in transit and have a lot of time to kill, venture out of the terminal.
Warning! Don't get to excited at the market! It would be a shame to lose your flight!
