Windy Run Park is indeed Windy, curving from one side of the creek to the other with stones placed in the creek to serve as crossings. The park sits in a densely vegetated forest and follows the creek down to the Potomac River, where it meets the Potomac Heritage trail. After going through a gorge beneath the George Washington Memorial Parkway, the trail becomes a series of rock steps beside a waterfall. If you venture a little further from the bottom, the creek opens right up onto a nice view of the Potomac, though you can't see much of Washington, DC from this part. Which may be a good thing if you just want to enjoy some undisturbed nature.

What a blast from the past! Used to work in Georgetown and would get off the Metro in Arlington each morning to run along the Geo Parkway...usually circled Theodore Roosevelt Island before crossing the bridge. This is a brilliant trail --> thanks for sharing, more people should be aware of it!
