William Ricketts Sanctuary Mount Dandenong Reviews
A Fairy Tale World Jul 01, 2012
Tucked away within the Dandenong Ranges and one hours drive from Melbourne, the William Ricketts Sanctuary is a surreal experience set amongst a beautiful Australian rain forest.
A trek through this "Middle Earth" like sculpture park is very calming and can be the perfect remedy to escaping the busy city life of Melbourne.
The sculptures are the legacy of Australian artist William Ricketts who had strong ties with the native Aboriginal people and their culture which heavily inspires his work.
Through his work I sensed his connection to the land, the animals and it's people. The whole experience seems very spiritual and I was enchanted by it's beauty and serenity.
The entry fee is under $10 and after wondering through the many winding paths (which will take a hour or two) you can sit down and relax at the cafe situated over the road.
Close to the Sky High Restaurant (with beautiful views of Melbourne and surroundings), a day trip to Mount Dandenong must include this wonderful park.
