My Beach Trip Without The Beach
posted by:
Jun 10, 2008 - Jun 16, 2008
Again I was rudely awoken by an early morning phonecall following a heavy night on the town, this time it was by Francessca. Not to be tricked again like last time, I chose to not listen to her about the hike through the Wicklow hills and got my beach and swim gear together. I was right!! For once! We went to Brittas Bay, one of the best beaches in Ireland by far. I hadnt been in awhile but it is still a very good beach, shame none of us remembered to bring any suncream!

Wicklow Ireland day trip

Dublin Day 2 We awoke in our hotel room and decided to partake in the free breakfast in the kitchen on the first floor of our building.   All 3 of us corralled into the small room and sat down for an Irish breakfast.  Our waitress was very friendly and asked us all about ourselves and told us a little more about Ireland.  On the menu were eggs, ham, and black pudding.  I didn’t question anything but Mueller had asked the eternal question “What’s ex...

Round Tower
posted by:
Jan 29, 2003 - Mar 29, 2003
Round Towers are unique Christian architectural features in Ireland, probably derived from visits to Europe and seeing the great bell towers. At Glendelough in County Wicklow near St. Kevin's Church is the Round Tower. At over 110 feet, it is one of the largest in the country. They were built between the 10th - 12th centuries and are believed to have been used as places of refuge and storage for valuables. The doorway was usually 12 feet above ground and reached by a removable ladder, as were...

What a lovely green Island. A rough coast, allways fresh air, beautiful hills and parks, good music, friendly people and millions of sheep. And if it´s raining, don´t be angry, the weather changes every 20 minutes.

After dreaming of travel since childhood, my friend and I headed to Ireland for two weeks of fun! We drove ourselves, stayed at B&Bs and hung out with the locals. I don't think it can get any better than this!

Wicklow Mountains
posted by:
May 14, 2006 - May 25, 2006
Just South of Dublin lays the Wicklow Mountains.  Just like the Ring of Kerry, there are no words to describe these mountains.  It's absolutely unbelievable.  Make sure you visit the town of Glendalough where they have an old monastery.  Also, see if you can find out where Braveheart was filmed!

Mystic Ireland
posted by:

Glendalough was a bit of an anticlimax for me. Not that it was bad or anything, but it looked like the Smokies or tons of other places that I've seen before. The lake however was lovely, dark and mysterious. We split into multiple groups here. Matt had to find out his ancestry and went hunting for a tomb in the graveyard. Some of us went for a walk. Nothing special, again nothing that I thought I couldn't find in the US.
