My favorite place to get something to eat in San Diego is at Whole Foods Market. They sell natural and organic product having stores across the United States, find a location online wholefoodsmarket.com There are two stores that I frequent depending on where I am working.

Hillcrest 8am-10pm seven days a week.

711 University Ave Phone 619.294.2800

La Jolla 7am-10pm seven days a week.

8825 Villa La Jolla Dr Phone: 858.642.6700

A well organized store with an enormous selection of international foods. Especially on the weekend stop in for an abundance of food taste testing and wonderful energy. There is fresh seafoods and meats, nice selection of wines and cheeses, but above all is the variety of fresh prepared food.

The store can be a bit pricey on shelved items but the prepared dishes I believe can be a good value. What stands out for me is the Hot/Cold food bar which is $7.99 pound. A fantastic salad bar with plenty of fresh produce. The hot dishes vary each day but you are sure to get an assortment of International cuisine. Right now on Wednesday the bar is only $5.99

You can have fresh made juice or your favorite coffee drink. Some mornings if I have a craving I will get a blueberry pancake. It is huge and only $2. There are 3 different sections for soups/stews....there is the seafood for bisque etc...there is the stews where you can get Lamb Stew among others, and the another area for lighter soups.

In the produce area you can find tasty organic fruits and vegetables. Of course the desserts....oh my! The Hillcrest store also has a Gelato section. You just have to come in and see for yourself!

Another thing I like about these stores is that they frequently have health related workshops. This is another wonderful place to meet people. You will also find someone doing chair massage.

Sit here and enjoy your meal or get things to go for Balboa Park or the nearby beach/bay.

It's a great store - although some of my friends called it 'whole paycheck' !
