Whttington Show, a super Cotswold event Sep 07, 2014
Whittington is situated just off the A40, about five miles south east of Cheltenham. It is a tiny little village with manor house and ancient church . It is also the home to the traditional printers, Whittington Press http://www.whittingtonpress.com

The annual show is held on the first Saturday of September each year and is a very local affair involving the whole village.

The standard stalls are represented (plants and produce, cakes, books, tombola). There was also a companion dog show (the dog with the waggiest tail etc). Teas are served in the village hall and a local brass band provides entertainment.

The manor house is open to visitors and in the print yard there are hand printing demonstrations and an array of stalls showcasing the various forms of the printer's art.

The church is open also and the medieval tombs are worth taking a look at.

It is a very enjoyable, typically british event and well worth visiting if you are in the area over the first weekend in September.
A little winner.

It is, to my mind, the best village event in the Cotswolds. Forget the famous places, Whittington is the place to go.
