We could have gone to the Whitsunday Islands on a bog standard 'booze cruise' style boat, but thanks to our families and the money they gave us for Christmas, we upgraded to 'The Ron Of Argyll', a beautiful 79 year old sailing boat with an Italian chef on board to cater to our every need.
The Ron of Argyll was built in 1928 for King George V, has sailed around the world and once had Marylin Monroe as a passenger too! We set sail from Airlie Beach at around 9:30 am, having been given a...

Australia III - This time we started in Brisbane, took a flight up North to Darwin, went on a 4day Kakadu Nat Park 4WD Tour, took another flight to Cairns and from there we rented a camper to travel back down South to Brisbane. Will we ever make it.?

Our two-day sailing trip around the Whitsunday Islands didn't get off to the best of starts. Told to meet at 12:30 to depart at 1:00, we found ourselves like two lost tourists with puzzled looks on our faces in the wrong part of the marina before we finally found a crew member at 12:45. They wanted to depart by then because of the tides retreating and we were thus told we would have to go out on a separate dinghy - not a good way to embrace the people you will spend the next two nights couped...

As we caught the overnight bus, we arrived into Airlie beach very early in the morning (around 6am). We were greeted with a heavy rainstorm....not much new there. Originally I was supposed to be going sailing around the Whitsundays on my own as Russell gets very sea sick and after our deep sea fishing trip he vowed never to go on a boat again! After speaking to various people who assured him the sea would be calm and there would be lots of opportunity to get off the boat and gave him the name...
