Whitby Regatta Reviews
Stormy Waters Jan 01, 2014
This was meant to be a treat for my mum and it turned into a disaster. You have to be prepared that the weather could totally spoil your day. We arrived on a coach tour to see the Regatta and saw none of it. It was absolutely pouring down and we got totally drenched. We found a lovely fish and chip shop on the other side of the bridge, and for the half an hour of no rain I managed to climb the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey, but apart from that we spent our day trying to keep dry in things like the Captain Cook Museum. I think our highlight though was seeing a bolt of lightening come down into the middle of the harbour. I'm sure when it is sunny the Regatta is wonderful - I've yet to experience it. Just bear in mind that there are other things to do if the event gets rained off!
