If you want to be near all the bars and clubs, pick a hotel near Bourbon Street. I would suggest staying at least one street back so you can sleep peacefully at the end of the day. Also, there's lots to do near Cafe du Monde and Jackson Square. If you find a hotel that's close to both areas, you'll be set.
If you are looking for a more romantic getaway, I suggest staying in the Garden District or Uptown. There are many beautiful bed and breakfasts and it's a more upscale setting. In that area, you will find trendy shops and cafes. Part of the Roadtrip travel blog |

We met a very sweet couple, newly married on Saturday, staying at Bernie/Fly Inn. They certainly seemed like an odd pair: she was very large, with a very pretty face and a sparkling personality. Her husband seems like a hick from a small town in the Ozarks, but is, in fact, very knowledgeable… Big Easy car problems |

We went to his friend's, but instead of staying watching the game, we were out enjoying the parade.
All the floats were great and creative. You saw Hulk Hogan's one. He was the first at the parade. One related to the 60's, other to the 70's ... There were bands and of course… Sunday! Mardi Gras + Superbowl wow!!!! |
