Where to Drink on the Cheap in DC Washington Reviews
A cheapskate's guide to partying in DC Jun 24, 2011
DC is not a cheap city, especially when it comes to nightlife. Unless they're already coming here from Manhattan, many people experience sticker shock when they go to a bar that doesn't even look all that special, and get charged upwards of $5 for a domestic beer. As a resident of DC, who HATES being overcharged for alcohol, I have made it my mission to seek out the best places to drink for cheap, even outside of happy hour. These are places without pretension, and they all tend to get a little rowdy at times. Here they are, with their dirt cheap, non-happy hour specialties included (remember that these places are even cheaper at happy hour):
*19th - 19th and I Streets NW - $3 PBR, High Life, Coors Light; $4 Yuengling and Blue Moon; varying nightly specials; http://enjoyyourround.com
*The Pug - 1234 H Street NE - $3 PBR, Shlitz, Natty Boh - http://thepugdc.com
*Recessions - 1823 L Street NW, Lower Level - $5 28 ounce draft beers, and a nightly $2 domestic bottle special; http://www.recessionsdc.com/
*Rock n Roll Hotel - $4 PBR tall boys (note this is a music venue and night club) - http://www.rockandrollhoteldc.com
*Solly's - 11th and U Streets NW - $3 PBR, Natty Boh and High Life; http://www.sollystavern.com
*Trusty's - 1420 Pennsylvania Ave SE - $3 PBR; http://trustysdc.com
This is what I've found so far. I've also heard good things about DC 9 and The Red Palace (Google them)!
