Historic Whaling Station Mar 31, 2006
Having closed down it's Whaling operation in 1978, the Cheynes Beach Whaling Station was reopened as the tourist attraction "Whaleworld" in the 1980s.

There is plenty to see and learn about whaling here and though the station is undergoing refurbishment in several areas, public have access through most of the building where you can follow the process from ship to shore and the harvest of whale products.

As well as tools and machinery of the trade, the station also houses good collections of whale bones and some interesting facts on the history of the industry. There are also some good movies relating to conservation of both whales and sharks.

A cafe and souvenir shop operates here so you can spend the whole day.
