Whale Watching in Ecuador Machalilla Reviews
Whale Watching in Ecuador - Machalilla Park Jul 04, 2009
Whale watching is becoming more and more popular worldwide and you can do that also in Ecuador. There's presence of humpback whales off the Ecuadorian coast, especially in the Machalilla National Park, during the whales' season Jun - Sept.
The Humpback whales migrate from the South Pole to tropical waters. They look for Ecuadorian waters because they are warm and perfect for their babies to born. They are also the most acrobatic of the bigger whales.
There are many tour operators which offer the whale watching, be sure the one you choose offer some security conditions. The tour lasts approx 3 hours, 1 hour to go to the whales location, 1 hour to watch them and 1 hour to go back to the coast.
They leave twice a day, depending on the number of tourists. First at 10am and the second one at 2pm. It's not expensive, well considering the experience US$20 is worth it.
Tip: if you have problems with motion sickness, it might be a good idea to take a medication just in case. You don't want to miss the whales.
