Weston-super-Mare Beach and Grand Pier Bristol Reviews
Typical British Seaside Mar 23, 2008
Weston pier and beach are close to Bristol, and it's worth warning you I went in Winter - summer is probably far more crowded and parking might be an issue.
Weston super mare has an enormous tidal range, so there is a wide, sandy beach and then several hundred metres of mud at low tide. The beach was spotless clean when I went. There is a pier, a ruined pier, a small fun fair and a sealife aquarium. The pier is much shorter than southend and smaller than Brighton, but is nice, and has children's rides and plenty of penny falls and fruit machines for the adults. There are fast food stalls, hot donuts, and amazingly, there are lots of really clean toilets.
Weston Beach also has plenty of bars and places you could buy fish and chips.
I liked Weston a lot, and would probably go back, although if it was summer I'd take the train.
