When traveling through Western Europe, the train is the absolute hands down best way to get around. Be sure to get a Eurail pass for your travels, as you will save TONS of money this way. Plus, it's a great way to get out and enjoy the country. It's one thing to be in these awesome cities, but the countryside is breathtaking! This is especially true of Spain, France, and Italy. If you're traveling on a budget, try to book your hostel a week in advance to ensure that you get a good one. Also, supermarkets are a great place for a cheap meal. Just buy whatever it is that you want to eat and take it back to the hostel - most of the hostels in Europe have a kitchen you can use to cook. Also, get a guide book so you can read up on the places you want to see - these books are great for identifying sites, finding places to eat, hostels, entertainment, getting around, etc. I hope this is a good start to your trip planning, but if you have more questions you can contact me directly!
