Beautiful Railay Beach (West) Jul 21, 2014
Railay is a small peninsula located between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang in Thiland. Accessible only by boat due to the high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. These cliffs attract rock climbers from all over the world, but the area is also popular due to its beautiful beaches and quiet relaxing atmosphere. Accommodation ranges from bungalows and medium-priced resorts in East Railay to a collection of five-star resorts on West Railay, and many beachfront restaurant at west Railay. The four main areas of Railay consist of Pranang, West Railay, East Railay and Tonsai.

During my visit to Krabi I stayed few days at West Railay Beach which is the primary destination for beach-goers in Railay. The beach, as pictured below, is surrounded by high limestone cliffs on either side. Long-tail boats are available to hire for transport to Ao Nang, which is 15 minutes north of Railay. A ride will cost you 100 Bath (US$ 3.00) in a normal day. In addition, ferries departing Railay for Koh Phi Phi and points west including Phuket depart from the West beach. The focal point of West Railay Beach is centered on a short walking street lined with restaurants and shops. One of the spectacular moment in west Railay beach is to watch the sunset in the horizon and the vivid reflection on the sea water also on the clouds in the sky. A was amazed to see such a wonderful view and definitely stands our as one of the best moments in my life that I would never forget. This beach is especially beautiful after sunset, when the silhouetted surrounding rock-faces give the place a totally unique and almost supernatural look.

The beach is also specially beautiful after sunset, when the silhouetted surrounding rock-faces give the place a totally unique and almost supernatural look (picture below). You can grab few drinks from the walking streets bars, or from the hotel restaurant which are also on the beach and spend hours sitting on the beach mat (provided by the resort) or listening music. Even watching starts in clear day is unforgettable event.

There are stores even 7 Eleven type of stores is available in between West and East Railay where you pretty much get every thing you may need when you get hungry in the middle of night or run out of supplies. If you are interested kayaking there are places where you could rent them and explore sea caves created by erosion at the base of limestone islets. Paddling into caves and through subterranean passages is particularly interesting, but need to watch out for low ceilings and rough ceilings.

Great, fun and adventurous activities at Railay Aug 04, 2013
A place where you can experience the adrenaline rush with lots of fun and adventurous activities. Been to Krabi with colleagues but I took a day off from them just to experience the adventurous activities with some random tourists and the locals. The price is fairly cheap and it will be cheaper during non-peak season (monsoon season). However, it is not advisable to come here during the monsoon season as it will defeat the purpose of having fun (due to rain, the hassles and whatnot). From Ao Nang Beach (main attraction), it only took about 10 minutes of a long-tail boat ride, which will only costs you THB 100-200 (+-). In addition to that, the locals were friendly as well.

Great place to chill out Mar 03, 2011
I was either going to go here or to Krabi and glad i chose here.

I spent 2 nights on this island and think thats the right amount of time.

I stayed on the East side of the island as the West side of the island is very expensive with the luxury apartments.

The sunset on west side of the island is amazing as you can see on my photo.

There is a view point that is a challenge to get to. You have to climb up loads of rocks, then you can go down to a fab lagoon, hard work but worth it when you get down there
