West End Hotel Fort William Reviews
West End Hotel Apr 22, 2011
The West End hotel in Fort William is a large hotel just on the end of the High Street, facing Loch Linhe across the road. It has friendly reception staff, and does great breakfasts.
Like many of the hotels in the area, it doesn’t look like much from outside, with a large extension that looks like it was designed with economy more in mind than style. Of course, that really doesn’t matter. Inside, the hotel is clean and pleasant, with the downstairs decorated in what I like to think of as “typical Scottish small town hotel” – lots of pictures of stags and mountains – and a large airy restaurant where you get breakfast. The bedrooms are clean, and although the décor is stuck somewhere in about 1995, it is a lovely hotel to spend the night in. There is a brilliant hot shower, which is essential in Fort William because you are likely to be doing outdoor activities whilst you are here, and toiletries are provided.
The staff are all lovely, and even made us cooked breakfast when we arrived far too late to deserve to be served. On days when you are on time, you can have porridge (made the Scottish way – with water and salt, not milk and sugar) and kippers instead of fried breakfast if you want to. There is a bar and evening meals are available, but we didn’t do that. A double room at Easter was £80.
