This mountain is 1838 meters high and is great for hiking. You can do so from pretty much every side. My favorite hike up starts in Bad Feilnbach. Depending on how much time you have you can either start all the way in the valley and town of Bad Feilnbach or you can drive up for a while. Which will probably cut at least 3 hours off your hike. I just like starting from the bottom because the "Jenbachtal" Jenbachvalley is very pretty. The hike takes you along a river with fresh mountain water. There are a lots of waterfalls along the way. There are also lots of little rest stops called Alm along the way. If you do take the Jenbachtaltour you should defenitly stop at the Wirtsalm. There is signs for it once you get closer. They have some of the best Brotzeit snacks you can imagine.

If hiking is not your thing or you don't have enough time you can either use the cable car or you can also take the train (!) up to the restaurant. There is still a little hike left to the very top and the Kipfelkreuz (a big cross at the peak).

The cable car base station is located in Bayerischzell and the peak is only about 7 minute ride away. If you like to take the longer route up and see more of the mountain itself you should use the train. It takes about half an hour to the top and is also a little pricyer. The train base station is located in Brannenburg.

Well, if you think that the restaurant and the peak is all that there is to see, you are wrong. There is the Wendelstein Chapel (where you can actually get married), the Wendelstein cave (a limestone cave that admits you 300 m into the mountain and it's only a euro) and there is also an observatory and weather station at the peak.

From the top you have a beautiful view of the Inntal (the Inn river valley) and the Austrian alps on the other side. On a clear day you can see all the bigger cities like Rosenheim and the Chiemsee lake in the far distance.
