“When we get out of the glass bottle of our ego and when we escape like the squirrels in the cage of our personality and get into the forest again, we shall shiver with cold and fright. But things will happen to us so that we don’t know ourselves. Cool, unlying life will rush in.” D.H.Lawrence. My 4 months nomad.

On Thursday we made our way to Wellington a bit more directly, found ourselves somewhere to stay and headed into the centre. We had a pretty straightforward drive down to Wellington from Napier, stopping-off in "one horse towns" that even had seen the horse leave because nothing was going-on anywhere!  Still, the people (as everywhere else in New Zealand) where very friendly and welcoming and the cafes are superb!&n…

You know, I'd forgotten just how much fun it is to plan for a trip.  Granted, the trips I've planned prior to this have been for groups of people, not just me.  But I'm sure I'll manage. I've still got roughly 4 and a half months to go and as usual, I'm leaving buying my plane tickets to…

We arrived into Wellington on friday at around 4pm and hunted for accomodation, frustratingly, for over an hour. Finally we bit the bullet and split up, Mam and Al in a guest house and me, Em and Ad in the YHA, all a stone's throw from things. Ad and I took the hostel up on the offer of $5 fush and…

In November 2006 I travelled to the southern hemisphere to live and work in New Zealand and Australia for twelve months. I was in Australia for about two months, and for the rest of the year I lived in New Zealand. I had the opportunity to travel back across the tasman sea three times for short breaks when I was able to get time off work. It was a really good experience to live on the other side of the world for one year.
