Welford Road Reviews
Welford Road, Leicester Tigers Mar 08, 2008
Welford Road is the home of Leicester Tigers, one of the more well known rugby union sides in the UK.
Although the ground is easy to find as it is located just outside of the city centre, it is not what you would call a modern ground. The four stands are a bit basic with their wooden seats and tin roofs, but that's not a reason to avoid it. The Tigers themselves are a reasonably successful and competitive side which boasts several England international players. Rugby is a popular sport in the UK and you'll see a good portion of the 17,000 capacity regularly take their seat and show support for this team. If you're out to watch some UK sports, then rugby is a must for you. It's a lot more competitively priced than football, and tickets can usually be got hold of with ease. It's not my thing personally, but I'm glad I've witnessed some play first hand to make that judgment. Others will argue that it is a great sport, and absolutely rightly so from that opinion. I suggest you judge for yourself and enjoy the experience, even if only once. Part of the UK and TB Meet Ups travel blog |
